DreamFlight Charities is proud to partner with the Sport Air Racing League (SARL) to provide a unique cross-country race that is both safe and accessible to pilots of all skill levels across a variety of aircraft.
Departing and returning to Capital City Airport (KFFT) in Frankfort, Kentucky, The Spirit of Kentucky Air Race is located along the renowned Kentucky Bourbon Trail, with its many distilleries making up many of the waypoints for our course options.
Pilots are encouraged to select a course appropriate for both their skill level and aircraft, with both courses being completed within an hour to hour-and-a-half.

The shorter of our two courses, this route spans across the North Central portion of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, featuring renown distilleries such as:

- Four Roses
- Wilderness Trail
- Limestone Branch
- Maker's Mark
- Heaven Hill
- Jeptha Creed
- Whiskey Thief
160 NM Course
Our longer course has been designed with faster aircraft in mind, extending further west to Bardstown and beyond, featuring craftsman distilleries like:

Aircraft Classes
The Sport Air Racing League strives to provide a safe and affordable outlet for the competitive instincts of all pilots, regardless of what airplane they fly.
Aircraft are placed within two categories and a variety of classes therein, with there being little to no advantage over other aircraft in the same category or class. The result is a fair scoring system that pits pilot against pilot as much as machine against machine.
Experimental Category
For those looking to push the limits of homebound engineering.
Factory Category
Air racing featuring aircraft from popular and familiar manufacturers.
